Apparently, it's the biggest monthly rally since November.

1. Is there a conclusion I am supposed to reach from that tweet, or it is just an observation along the lines of "water is wet" ?

2. While futures are an unreliable predictor (especially this past week), they are pointing toward some soaring on Monday morning.

First commenter on Twitter makes a good point: this would be interesting if 40% of revenue (S&P 500) wasn’t derived from international markets.

The only thing the graph really tells me is that the proportion of the GDP attributable to stock companies as opposed to sole proprietors, or private companies has grown over time. If we had some reasonably accurate way to value non-stock issuing enterprises and add that value to the total capitalization line it might show that GDP/Total enterprise value was more nearly constant.

Or it might show that GDP/Market Capitalization can always be calculated but the ratio might have no meaning at all. Sort of like taking GDP/Total mosquito population of the US. I can always calculate that ratio (might have to make some bold assumptions) but it might not produce a meaningful result.

According to the Economist's Big Mac Index, the Canadian dollar was 7% undervalued against the US dollar in December 2020, so seems like the US dollar took a step lessening that discrepancy.

I am still very confused by how the hell the stock market is up. It doesn't make economic sense but then again economics doesn't make economics sense.

Just gonna stay the course etc. But very confused/jittery.

Inflation. If housing prices are rising, some of the money would also flow into stocks.

Huh? Have you been watching earnings the last 2 quarters? $1T-700B Companies are doubling profits, crushing earnings estimates.

Seems pretty rational to me.

it's the rubberband effect, the pandemic stretched everyone to the limit and now the spring back is ferocious... it will last for quite a bit at least domestically.

So not only has stock market capitalization exceeded nominal GDP for the third time (with the last two times eventually resulting in crashes), but bond market capitalization has exceeded nominal GDP for the first time, and also M2 money supply is getting close to reaching (and perhaps exceeding) GDP for the first time?

What happens when all the other lines are over the red line? What happens? Does the red line even matter? I thought we had evolved beyond needing to care about GDP. It sure seems like it.
