Is SGOV (Ishares 0-3 month Treasury Bond ETF) still the choice for parking cash I might need in 3 months? The yield (based on the 30 day SEC yield) seems to be 5.11%.
Or since the Fed has pretty clearly signalled that it will lower rates, would it make sense to go for a bond ETF with a slightly longer duration?

For a 3 month time frame, I'd be using VUSXX or similar US Treasury money market fund.Caduceus wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:07 am Is SGOV (Ishares 0-3 month Treasury Bond ETF) still the choice for parking cash I might need in 3 months? The yield (based on the 30 day SEC yield) seems to be 5.11%.

I wouldn't be chasing yield for such a short time frame.

I’ve parked money in VMFXX for now. There are threads that compare these two that would help you decide what’s best. Since it’s such a short time I’d agree with the initial replies given.

The most convenient parking spot.
Have the retirement runway in sight. 70/30. Cleared to land.

I'd go with individual treasury bills with a duration that works for you.Caduceus wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:07 am Is SGOV (Ishares 0-3 month Treasury Bond ETF) still the choice for parking cash I might need in 3 months? The yield (based on the 30 day SEC yield) seems to be 5.11%.

Why?
Easy to sell. BUT, If you sell early, you could lose principal.
Highest quality.
If you don't want to lose a penny, checking, savings, or money market should get the nod.

FZDXX at Fidelity if you can manage a $100k initial purchase. Subsequent purchase can be any amount. Balance does not need to be maintained at $100k.Caduceus wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 10:07 am Is SGOV (Ishares 0-3 month Treasury Bond ETF) still the choice for parking cash I might need in 3 months? "Parking" money and reaching for yield are two different things. I would decide which is your objective.
