New Vanguard ETF Investing Service - Vanguard Info Tech ETF (VGT)
Hi, I think this site is amazing for DIY. I am in a funk; Vanguard is testing a recurring investment service for ETF (Exchange Traded Funds). It sounds like fractional investing. I have been retired for a while now. I have a very small position in VGT; closing price as of Sept 27, 2024 - $583.70. I have been wondering if I should participate in recurring investments (monthly) or just invest on the dips. I'm leaning toward monthly recurring investments-small amounts. But it seem like this is something that should be done as a young person. As a retiree, I'm no longer in the retirement accumulation phase, but in the distribution phase. Your insight to this topic is appreciated.

Re: New Vanguard ETF Investing Service - Vanguard Info Tech ETF (VGT)
are you distributing from this fund or others?
if you have extra money that has no immediate or short term purpose, you can always invest money. Whether VGT is the right fund to invest in is another story. Part of the answer might depend on how much of your portfolio is already allocated to it and whether your expectations for this fund are reasonable or not (are you expecting the future to look like the past) and so on.
I think you need to post your whole portfolio so we can give you better advice overall rather than piecemeal. Context matters.

It's hard to accept the truth when the lies were exactly what you wanted to hear. Investing is simple, but not easy. Buy, hold & rebalance low cost index funds & manage taxable events. Asking Portfolio Questions |
