Real world performance of iShares iBonds (defined-maturity bond ETFs)

This was inspired by a specific thread: https://bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=379983 as well as my curiosity about the behavior of these maturing bond funds.

Yesterday I purchased 1 share each of the funds discussed in the linked thread as well as the treasury fund of the same duration for comparison. I am also making note of the treasuries maturing around the same time:

I’ll be interested to see how the dividends and final distributions of the ETFs turn out, and how the return compares to these treasuries.

Following this thread for curiosity sake. I am using iShares defined maturity ETFs as a portion of my ladder based on prior performance compared to expectations (link below for case study) and I am curious to see how the this real-time study goes.

Interesting! IBDQ and IBTF are exactly the funds I’m using in my (child’s) UTMA account.
