MF to ETF (VFIAX to VOO)

Post by stocknoob4111 »

I know I can convert VFIAX to VOO, I have a small holding of VFIAX that I would like to consolidate into my larger holding of VOO.

Question - if I convert $x of VFIAX to VOO then will I have $x of VOO after the conversion (expected) or is it something else like some ratio of VFIAX shares to VOO shares? I am expecting to have the same dollar amount after the conversion but just wanted to verify my understanding and not have any surprises later.

You'll have the same $ amount. And your basis will carry over.

The # shares will be different because VFIAX and VOO have different $/share.

thank you!

Question - I know the conversion is tax free but what are the prices? Will the transaction be performed at closing?

Say, VOO increases 2% at 10am and then drops 2% by closing... will the transaction be performed at 10am and since the MF is only the closing price I then lose 2%.

Just want to verify that all conversions are done at closing and not intra-day.
