This is why DIY is the way to go

Post by pedalman701 »

Now that I'm paying attention to our investments (in lieu of being held captive to Edward Jones), I noticed that the bond portion of my AA was a little short of my pre-determined target.

Hmmm...what to do? Oh, wait. I happen to have a little extra money in the settlement account to use.

So, let's buy a few more shares of BND.

No extra commissions.
No fees (hidden or visible).
No loads.
Total transparency.
No calling an "advisor" to express my desire, and hoping they will do it, and not rip me off.

The feeling is priceless. This is why we DIY. :D

Me and you both!!! I explored using Vanguards's PAS, but they didn't offer anything I couldn't get on this board or through my own research.

Nice job!

And, you invested when you had the extra money, the best time of all!

Just make sure you don't have a relapse (response from reading your signature line)!

I agree. It's about 4 hours of work per quarter. Not worth a 1% wealth tax.
