I have noted multiple media articles regarding the liquidation of a lot of rather large stock positions by certain high profile & very public individuals. As I do not trade much in individual stocks, how is information like this gathered by a member of the media? Are financial institutions required to disclose the numbers if the selloff by an individual is beyond a certain dollar/share numerical value? Or is the news consumer just supposed to trust that the media source has an accurate & honest verification procedure?
