VIIIX and TISBX Allocation Question

Post by sorethumb » Wed Jul 10, 2019 12:59 pm

In my 457 the only palatable options are VIIIX (0.02 ER) and TISBX (0.06 ER). I am currently allocated 80% VIIIX and 20% TISBX. Is this Large Cap/Small Cap ratio appropriate to get close to an SP500 fund?

Thanks, y'all!

Your 80/20 mix would closely approximate total market, which I think is what you meant. VIIIX is the SP500

Yes, it is often recommended that large cap and small cap be invested in a 80:20 ratio to approximate total stock market.

Here is a back-test comparison against total stock market index

As you can see there is only the teensiest difference between the two, not enough to really matter
