I now plan to do 50% Vanguard index fund and 50% individual long term, blue chip stocks. Still have 33 or so years till retirement, if ever.
Which stocks would you consider if you were to buy now?
Thank you.

I wouldn't consider any individual stocks. I would simply buy Total US and Total International an allocated at my percentage preferences. If I wanted to tilt a bit I could do that but would do so with another low cost VG index fund. That would be the Boglehead way.

It seems to me that if you don't know what individual stocks you would be buying, then you don't know why you are buying individual stocks. In other words, not much of a plan, since the approach is backwards. First you would have a reason to pick individual stocks rather than a fund, presumably because no such fund exists. By the time you get to that point, you already know what stocks to buy.
