When times are good, investors tend to forget about risk and focus on opportunity. When times are bad, investors tend to forget about opportunity and focus on risk.
Re: Advice and direction for new 401k and fund options
I added the ERs that I could find.
Re: Advice and direction for new 401k and fund options
Pending the ER, you could approximate Total Stock Market using the S&P fund and the Extended Market at 4:1 ratio.
Then Use the Aggregate Bond Index and then All Country Wold Ex-US for your International allocation.
This of course, after taking in consideration both of your investments as a unit..

The best options are:jsh84 wrote:Thoughts on these options?
- Northern Trust S&P 500 Index (0.10%) -- Large caps, 80% of US stocks
- Northern Trust Extended Equity Market Index (??) -- Mid/small caps, 20% of US stocks
- Northern Trust All Country World ex-US IMI (0.25%) -- Complete international stocks
- Northern Trust Aggregate Bond Index (0.15%) -- US bonds
Re: Advice and direction for new 401k and fund options
Thanks, I think i'll stick with the S&P 500 option for now and get international and bonds elsewhere.
Re: Advice and direction for new 401k and fund options
You might also want to add at least a portion to the Fidelity Contra Fund. It is a dynamite fund, just look at the past returns including in 2008. The same manager is still at the fund's helm. Normally this fund is offered at around 0.75% ER, your plan has it at a discount.
Past returns are no guarantee of future results, but the fund track record makes a compelling narrative to stick at least a fifth of your contributions.
