Fidelity ZERO Total Market Index closed to new investors?

Post by Creditcardguy » Mon Apr 15, 2019 4:55 pm

Hello,
Tried to contribute to my Fidelity self employed 401k today with FZROX (Fidelity ZERO Total Market Index) and found out that it's closed to new investments? This fund has only been around a few months, is this normal? Any idea when it might reopen? I'm a newbie.
Thanks,
CCG

The ZERO funds are only open to retail investors (leaving 401K/457B/403Bs out in the cold).

That's odd, I have it in my Traditional IRA with Fidelity. You'd think the Fidelity guy would have told me that - he just said it should re-open but he didn't know when.

I guess FSKAX(Fidelity Total Market Index Fund) it is...

My 403(b) is with Fidelity, and I'm able to invest in the Zero funds through BrokerageLink. Just FYI.

Many of thebrokerages have odd rules for what you can buy in their solo 401k plans. As I recall, you couldn’t buy admiral shares with Vanguards plan.

Wait, you called Fidelity and their rep agreed the fund was closed and didn't know when it would re-open? And they say Vanguard CS reps are clueless .... :P

Say it isn’t so. LOL...

I have accounts with all the three main brokerage houses and they all make mistakes from time to time. It’s all good. :-)
