Need help with where to invest with 2017 IRA contribution

Post by shaselai » Tue Apr 17, 2018 11:28 pm

I just put in 5500 in my IRA account and am available to invest. I currently have my 401k+savings setup in 15% bonds, 85% funds. i also have further diversified in ~15 international, 10% small, 20% mid and rest large caps. The money are mostly in funds and they also diversify as well.

With 5500 to play with, can i get a recommendation of a few ideas to invest? I am 35 and want to have some risk so i dont think i want more in bonds.

Thanks!

You have accounted for 145% of your portfolio in your post?

Is it possible for you to follow the asking portfolio questions guidelines? If not check the wiki for information.

A total stock market index fund.

Think of your portfolio as a single unit. So all percentages should add up to 100% across all accounts. For example:

401k
50% total stock market index fund
20% total bond market index fund

IRA
30% total international market index fund

(fyi, the three types of funds in my example above are "diversified")
