Question regarding multiple rollovers and Roth/Brokerage provider choice

Post by HCarroll362 » Mon Feb 19, 2018 8:03 am

My current financial status.

34 years old

Income - Registered Nurse - 56K (will be increasing to 140k+ next year)
- It was more the last few years with overtime but school this year prevents me from working extra
Home Loan - 286k (have 80k in equity)
Car Loan - 15k ($300 month)

401k -20k
457B - 20k (2 accounts)
Florida Retirement System - 40k
Cash - 20k

Questions:

1) I am tired of having multiple accounts. Is it wise to rollover the 457B accounts and Florida Retirement System accounts into a Roth IRA that I plan on starting before April 15th? I am of the understanding that it is a good choice as my income isn't very high this year.

2) I want a brokerage account as well. Is it possible to do trades and own my Roth through one provider? I was looking at Fidelity. I'd like the ease of having both accounts through the same login.

I feel like I am pretty behind in retirement planning but next year when my income goes up I plan on hitting it hard. Max 401k contributions, backdoor Roth, and a couple extra payments on my mortgage every year. Extra money will go towards some stocks and ETFs.
