Best financial/Investing book in your opinion to read

Post by Wezzley77 » Wed Dec 06, 2017 7:34 pm

Hello.

Im brand new here to the forum and my first post. So much good information on here. Id like to know what books you have read or suggest for investing or money management or both. I have read the Tony Robins books with Peter Mullock, Investing for Dummies, and am currently reading The Intelligent Investor by none other than Mr. Grahm. I know there are so many out there and would ilke your feed back. Thanks!

One recommendation is to read 3 types of financial books to start your investor education.
One on investing basics, one in behavioral aspects of investing, and one on general personal finance, wci has a good list also. The list is aimed at physicians, but you can just skip that category.

Welcome :D
One of the best financial investment libraries is available for free in the form of the Boglehead "Wiki".
Here's a few and then a book list.
Some helpful links:
Bogle Philosophy
https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Bogleh ... hilosophy
Here are links to the wiki's "Getting Started" and "Investing Startup Kit" pages:
https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Getting_started
https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Bogleh ... rt-up_kit
Define General Investment Goals and Objectives
https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Invest ... statement
Outline of Investing

Suggested Reading List
https://www.bogleheads.org/RecommendedReading.php
What the experts say about investing
https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/What_ ... investing

The other best financial/investing "book" is the cumulative "brain power" of the Boglehead forum that far exceeds any shelf of books.
Google any financial or other topic and read the posts and discussions.

I believe you can be a very smart and successful investor without knowing much at all. The Little Book of Common Sense Investing I think pretty much covers it. That plus a few hours on this site/wiki should be all you need. Behavioral stuff is good to understand also.

I haven't read the other books you list but the Intelligent Investor is for me more of historical interest than actionable.

ā€œLife on paradise islandā€ is what got me interested in economics in the 6th grade.

(See bottom for epub download, book long out of print and copyright ownership is unknown so the authors son posted the ePub).

I vaguely remembered the book and the Bogleheads found the ePub from my description :-)
