How old are you and what size is your portfolio?

Post by KirklandCoug »

I noticed another post that asked about age and how much you save per year. That got me thinking about how old people are here and how much they have in their portfolios not counting real estate. Obviously, this site will have larger numbers then the general public.

Me:

52 years old.
1.35 million in the market.

Do you really think you are going to receive answers to this?

Sure. Nobody knows you from a screen name.

Perhaps the OP would be better served by a link to the end of yr survey without screen names?

Many here use their actual names. Do you really think they are going to post the value of their portfolio on the Internet? In my case, it is not my real name but I have said enough about myself that it could be figured out. I'll be surprised if you receive responses.

Wow Iv seen people post much more information about themselves then just the size of the portfolio . Like much much more.

I mean its common place on this forum to post all accont balances and holdings etc.

Take for instance any of the threads following the "post your profile" instructions. When filled out "correctly", it will list your (rough) age, portfolio size, taxable/tax-advantaged split, asset allocation, and more. It just seems a little crass to do a poll question like that (crass being entirely in the eye of the beholder, I know).

That said, this is the internet so I'm 25 and my portfolio is $16 million. And I'm a supermodel. :beer

Why did they ever stop the net worth survey? This isint that dissimilar just less anonymous. There are a ton of posts where one person gives all their detailed data and everyone gives their input. How much damage can someone do knowing your approximate balance? That doesn’t give you any increased access to my accounts.

I am 80 and have a large portfolio. Is there anyone young with a small portfolio out there that would like to swap both with me?

This thread has run its course and is locked (not productive, divisive). See: Locked Topics
Moderators or site admins may lock a topic (set it so no more replies may be added) when a violation of posting policy has occurred. Occasionally, even if there are no overt violations of posting policy, a topic (or thread) will reach a point where the information content of the discussion has been essentially exhausted and further replies are much more likely to cause distress to the community than add anything of value.
