trading foreign based firms

Post by ketanco » Thu Feb 23, 2017 12:20 pm

Hello,
As far as the foreign based firms that are regularly traded in nyse such as toyota or volkswagen etc... is there something special as far as paperwork when you trade them with regular trading account? how about tradig with ira or roth ira?
or is it totally the same as buying an american based stock?

Issues arise if the company is not listed on a usa stock exchange. I few years ago when I tried to buy Nestle Merrill Lynch wanted me to fill out na form saying I knew the risks. Being lazy I just purchased Hershey
