at loss on both trades now want to sell some

Post by ketanco » Sun Dec 13, 2015 11:36 am

i bought a certain stock of 75 shares at $70 each earlier this year.

Then i bought another of same stock of say 70 shaers at say $65 each

now i want to sell some of my stock but not all. so i will be at a loss but how it is calculated and what do i write during tax time? can you give an example?

so if i sell lets say 50 shaers does it come out of first trade or second trade or average?

how about if i sell 80 shares?

Where are these shares held? Who is your broker? If you go to your broker's web site, tell us how it lets you specifically identify the shares you wish to to sell. If you ilke, post your login name and password and we can look for you. But if you do that, expect the whole world to look for you, too.

Basically, your questions should be answered by the customer service folks at your broker. Have they not been helpful?
