AGRBX Equivalent - 1.4% FEE!

Post by Detroittl »

I am new to bogleheads after reading the "Bogleheads' Guide to Investing' this summer (I actually bought it as a gift for a few friends who like to talk investments).

I've converted the brokerage and Ira. I have a Roth with one fund and it's the "American Growth Fund" - AGRBX - b shares. The expense ratio is 1.4%. There was no front load and there is no load to sell since I've had it over seven years. It's grown by about the same amount the s and p 500 has grown.

What is a similar index fund with less fees?

Thanks in advance this board is great.

The question is "What S&P 500 or total US stock market fund is available in YOUR Roth?".

I have a relatively horrible 401k, and chose what I invest in based on the least horrible ER.

That's a large-cap growth fund, so Vanguard Growth Index (VIGAX) would be closer than a broad-market fund. But is the intent really to copy whatever category of fund you had before?

When my spouse held B shares in her 401(k) years ago, they automatically converted to A shares after the 7 years. So I guess that didn't happen to your shares. Oh, well.
