On the early retirement web site there is a link to a VPW calculator developed by a Boglehead. The link, however does not work. It goes to dropbox as a dead end. Is it available anywhere?

Thanks

## VPW calculator

### Re: VPW calculator

I do not have excel. That is why I was looking for the calculator. Any advice on a free program/app that would run this on a PC? Ipad?

### Re: VPW calculator

From the wiki:

The spreadsheet is developed using the free LibreOffice Calc software.

Users have reported that some charts do not display as nicely with Microsoft Excel.

Google Docs is unable to correctly display the file.

### Re: VPW calculator

Yes, you can go to this site and get the same results as VPW with a simple calculator:

http://tcalc.timevalue.com/all-financia ... lator.aspx

Just enter the future real rate of return of your investments, the number of years that you will be withdrawing, and you will get the same value as VPW for your current year withdrawal.

Example:

Portfolio: $1,000,000

Rate of Return: 2%

Number of Withdrawals: 30

Withdrawal Period: Annual

You would be able to make 29 Annual withdrawals in the amount of $43,894.82 and one final withdrawal of $43,894.92.

Or you can just convert it to a percentage and get 4.39%
