Re: downside to buying VG funds from fidelity in solo 401k?

Once you move the SEP-IRA into the solo 401k at Fidelity you could then roll the solo 401k over to Vanguard. That type of rollover is allowed. How would this help me accomplish the backdoor roth? Because all the taxable income from the sep is in the 401k I could then open a nondeductible Ira and th...

downside to buying VG funds from fidelity in solo 401k?

I have posted several times recently and I have learned alot and I think I am getting my retirement portfolio going on the right track. My last piece of info I need to sort out is about my solo 401k and utilizing the backdoor roth IRA conversion. I currently have a SEP-IRA with vanguard and want to ...

Re: should I sell my old franklin funds and transfer vanguar
That would be my recommendation also.At age 30,LS Growth (80/20) would be my choice.
Is the only reason this is preferred is less stock exposure?

Re: should I sell my old franklin funds and transfer vanguar

Re: should I sell my old franklin funds and transfer vanguar

I have already rolled them into my SEP with vanguard under a brokerage account. So selling them and buying vanguard funds will be easy. I just turned 30. I just chose that fund due to the date coinciding with when I want to retire/ slow down. I don't necessarily have a risk tolerance right now becau...

Re: should I sell my old franklin funds and transfer vanguar

So if I can sell these off and transfer to the vanguard target retirement fund without triggering a taxable event and keep within my SEP, would this be the best option?

Re: should I sell my old franklin funds and transfer vanguar

Are these funds in a regular account or in a tax sheltered account (like an IRA)? If it's a regular taxable account what kind of capital gains do you have? What is your tax bracket? they are in a SEP-IRA. To be terribly honest I don't know what tax bracket I am in but we are married and filling joi...

Re: beginner here, maxed out my SEP-IRA...now what?

you can keep both the SEP and the 401k going at the same time, but the employER space is the same - you don't get to double it So can you contribute to both of these accounts at the same time? I was under the impression you cannot do this. Or is it that you just cannot count the same money as emplo...

Re: beginner here, maxed out my SEP-IRA...now what?

do a Self-Employed (Roth) 401(k) at Vanguard! I was about to set one of these up but since I am looking at buying a practice then it would not be applicable for that situation so I didnt want to set it up and then have to dissolve it after a few moths. I did not know it could be administered throug...

Re: beginner here, maxed out my SEP-IRA...now what?

Worried in what way, like an audit? correct as an example and this may not apply to you but if you are doing job x which normally pays a person 100k per year but are paying yourself a salary of 20k and taking 80k in distributions/dividends then its very unlikely this will fly and it will attract at...
