If you have asphalt shingles then I would check with the manufacturer to see if it would effect the life of the shingles. I would assume the heat that is now being radiated into your attic would now cook the shingles with the radiant barrier installed.

Try weighted average function – SUMPRODUCT. Cells A1-A5 have the XIRR, cells B1-B5 have each fund's percent of total portfolio value. Then =SUMPRODUCT(A1:A5,B1:B5) should solve it.

In my area many of the new homes that use propane had underground tanks installed. This presents a problem when shopping for the best spot price. Only the company that “owns” the tank can deliver propane to it. This is for “safety” reasons. The tank owners’ propane prices tend to be higher.

Comparing salary and benefits are not enough. It is my experience in the private IT sector that exempt employees work between 50-60 hours per week and are on call as well. Is it the same for Government workers?

I would put most of that money into a SPIA and the rest into a bank account for emergencies. She is in no position to be in the stock market at all. And she will never get enough return from a money market.

It could be a setting in your router. Routers have firewall capabilities. Log on to it and check for settings. My Cisco Linksys E1000 has a section whereby I can do website blocking by URL address.

Another consideration is tax loss harvesting. In 2011 I was able to TLH my Total International fund. If all my money was tied up in VG Life Strategy Growth I wouldn’t have been able to TLH only a component of the fund.

I see no reason not to have some bonds in your taxable account. I do it myself for rebalaning ease. Also, do the math, and check out tax-free bonds in your taxable account.

Switch into Vanguard FTSE All World ex-US Index. This will preserve your current international asset allocation and since it tracks a different index than Total International there should be no IRS wash rules issue.
