Re: South Florida visit in early March

I'll be spending a week in South Florida in early March. I'll be staying in Hollywood and making one day trip to Naples/Bonita Springs. It's just me, no kids, and I'm just looking for suggestions on things to see and do during my stay. I plan to find a place to stay on VRBO. Any suggestions would b...

Re: If you use EE Bonds, what did drive your decision

EE can function nicelyfor liability matching. However their lack of liquidity has two big impacts: not only do I need to wait 20 years but I’ll have no wiggle room at that point in not withdrawing, affecting taxes. I bought EE to be used for income during that period before SS kicked in, but stoppe...

Hi What changes would you make to your estate plan based on the new tax law? It's another indication that the Treasury is ramping down resources and support for savings bonds. Yep, that's one more nail in the Savings Bonds coffin. I would argue that every allocation with more than 60% in high quality bonds runs a considerable amount of risk to underperform inflation. I would be more fearful of that than a market correction. As a result, a 40/60 or 45/55 risky investment/safe assets would be my conservative vehicle of choice ...

Check your transaction tab to see if it shows it being sold. With this new brokerage setup, some things like take a couple of days to show up in your account since it has to go thru the settlement account first and that doesn't show up until the next business day. It's as if the funds are in limbo.

IMO, there's simply no reason to pay more to put a high-cost, tax-deferred annuity inside an already tax-deferred retirement plan.
Putting a tax-deferred annuity inside an IRA only makes sense to the person selling them.
