Just focus on a behavior you want changed that is measurable.

Say something positive about the change.

In my case, I said it would be nice if our boss could reply to our emails more quickly.

That being said, my old boss calmed me down from actually saying it to my new boss.

I would assume a letter is a more effective means of asking an organization to do something it doesn't want to do. Followed up by a phone call, and a certified letter, return receipt requested.

I'm not sure why you are being so vague about what you wife does or how much she makes.

100 or 900 dollars every 2 weeks is materially different.

So to is the type of work she does. It is nice to work to keep sane, but right now that work may not make sense financially.

I'm really trying to learn, rather than teach at this point. A wiki is one of my preferred ways of doing so.

The Bogleheads wiki has high standards, which I can only aspire to after 1) learning about saving and 2) actually doing some in real life.

I just had a couple of shingles of my roof repaired. I'm waiting for a written estimate for the replacement.

The repair was $150 and the quote for the entire roof was $5600..

How many quotes did you get when you had your roof repaired? What process did you use to pick between providers?

Use your existing Facebook or LinkedIn network's for references to attorneys that people have actually used. if an attorney comes recommended but doesn't cover the type of litigation you are involved in ask them for a referral.
