American Funds: You can beat the Index

Hi Bogleheads: I was reviewing some of the funds held in my 403(b) this morning. This is what their website says on the main page. I am glad I dont invest with them. "Investing in an index fund means investors won’t do worse than the overall market, but it guarantees they’ll never do better. So...

Re: Tracking the Total Stock Index Fund and Total Stock International Stock Index

Lets say I want to compare:

VG 500 index Admiral --VFIAX---ER: 0.05%
Blackrock 500 Index ----BSPAX--ER:-0.36%.

Assuming for the next 20 years, if each fund follows its benchmark index, and if the total annual return for each fund is 5%, is there a chart to follow this?

Maybe I am just thinking too much. Instead of putting the entire contribution into my Roth IRA VG Total Market Index Fund, I could put 20% and 30% into my other two ROTH IRA Funds to rebalance and meet my desired AA.

Thank you again.

Greetings to all:

I have the VG Star fund ((VGSTX) in my Vanguard Individual account. Because of the bond holdings it is not tax efficient so I would like to move it into a Roth. However, I can't because of my high income tax bracket and I would be penalized. Are there any options available?
