What I'd like to see is an ex-US global bond index fund. With that we could model the world with Total Stock Market Index for US, ex-US global stockt, Total Bond Index (US) and the ex-US global bond index would fill in the last piece. I suppose you'd need two: one USD hedged and the other unhedged. ...

I'm within the suburbs on the "road to Dublin." The amount I owe on my mortgage is about 12% of my asset allocation. My current financial plan is to work enough each year to max out the 401K, fund a Roth IRA and make my housing payments including the mortgage. This means I can afford to do contract ...

After reading this, you may want to consider the iShares S&P 600 ETF that tracks the same index as TM Small Cap Since we're getting off course from the original idea of SCV this reminds me of iShares S&P SmallCap 600 Value Index IJS. It appears to now have a 1.13% yield. However, M* says it has a P...

You might go look at some of the Bridgeway funds. BRSIX is a tax efficient microcap fund that theoretically could double as a small cap blend. They also have small cap value fund BRSVX that appears to be tax efficient too. ER is .77 which is high compared to Vanguard, but its not all that valuey. On...

I'm not sure they're directly comparable. Note the credit quality for the holdings of Vanguard's Total Bond Market fund and Fidelity's offering: The Fido fund you want is US Bond Index (FBIDX) which is their fund based on the Lehman Aggragate Bond Index. It has an ER of .32 so its more expensive th...

Eric Haas has a nice web page that addresses a lot of the issues of DFA vs. Vanguard. I know a lot of folks here know about this, but here it is again:

http://www.altruistfa.com/dfavanguard.htm

The Rydex Pure Style SCV is on his list of DFA equivalents.

ETFs get higher distributions

Swiped from the M* Diehard board post 58101 is new 2007 Vanguard 1st Qtr Distributions

The SCV fund is $16.76 a share and gets $0.01 distribution. The ETF version is ~$70 a share and gets a $0.05 distribution. So you can argue an extra 14% slant towards the ETF getting a larger payout.

Thanks for fixing the problem. I was wondering if it was silently eating my avatar upload while screaming in some log file.

Rick Ferri uses First Trust DJ Select Microcap (FDM) for Microcaps in All About Index Funds 2nd Ed. ER is 0.50. The only problem I see with this ETF is it only has ~$30 million invested in it and I suppose its conceivable that it might be sold off and the money returned to investors if it doesn't ge...

Nope, just a red x. I've even tried resizingmy image to be exactly 100 pixels across thinking it might be something funky there.

How do you load avatar image? I can't get one to load. I browse to the 80x60 pixel image I have and it won't load. Changing it from jpg to gif doesn't make a difference. Moving it to a location with no spaces in the directory path doesn't work. Changing the file name to be 8.3 chars doesn't work... ...
