Re: What do you know about LPL Financial?

Some relatives used an advisor that was affiliated with LPL. LPL was basically behind the scenes - that's where the statements came from, and it had the advisor's name printed on them, but all other communications were through the advisor and the firm that the advisor worked for. It seemed to me tha...

Don't know if this would help but in case you make regularly scheduled flights for your trips, I had a friend who needed to make the same Sunday-Thursday out of town trip every 2 weeks for a long time. What he did was buy round-trip flights that originated in the far city, which meant his round-trip...

I would not consider a gold coin for that purpose. a 1 ounce gold coin contains an ounce of gold but it also contains small amounts silver and copper, otherwise if its pure gold it would be too pliable for use as a coin. if you want pure gold, buy a .999+ gold "bar" which come in 1 ounce sizes. Not only are there different scoring models, some models use a different scale. FICO scores top out at 850. VantageScore 3.0 also tops out at 850. The earlier versions of VantageScore go up to 990. So you need to see what model they are using.

Driving that round-trip every month for a year is around 17000 miles (plus whatever other driving you'll be doing). When you narrow your choices down, you might want to check with your auto insurer before deciding to see what your premiums would be for the different options. What is your price range?

I agree that much-improved safety is a great reason to ditch a 20-year-old car. Also consider that repairs on a car that old are not going to affect the car's value. We once had done major repairs on a 15-year-old car that was still under 100k miles and very solid - it just needed some work that a c...
