Re: Experience with 401K "Self Directed Brokerage Account"

At my old company we had a SDBA option within the 401k. Prudential was the 401k custodian and their brokerage arm held the SDBA as well (no option to have it somewhere else). Fee was $100/year and buy/sell commissions were $17.95 unless it was a no transaction fee fund (Vanguard buys/sells had commi...

Ran into the same problem with our credit union. Even though we have a joint account, they had no way to enable both of us having the same access to the payee list using our separate logins. I don't understand "Technically, the responsibility falls to me." Has she indicated that you are her executor? You need not accept the position. One important thing to understand about Managed Payout is that the distributions do not necessarily come from earnings. Saw this scenario reported on local news not long ago. They mentioned two schemes that have been identified: Items purchased with a stolen credit card (card unrelated to the homeowner) and drug deals. The person expecting delivery scouts the empty house until the item arrives, then picks it up.

I always take the receipt, look at the total right there, put it in my pocket. Wouldn't put it past some clever people to recognize the regular customer who never takes his receipts then overcharges them. I think you at least have to verify that the total is right.

I sometimes question some of the responses I read about cash rebate cards. If one receives an annual cash rebate of $2,500 using a 2% cash-back card that means charging $125,000 annually that card. Under what conditions would a person make personal charges of $125,000 to a credit card to obtain suc...

I'm a banker, and I think you are right to be concerned.
