Tell the neighbor they have 60 days to make up their mind or it's being removed buy you:
1) move the fence
2) pay you market value for the occupied land

Re: Whole-house generators - Generac, Kohler, or Briggs?
If you must have AC another option is to buy another genset dedicated for the AC unit - we have never needed AC here when these events occur. I've got a 9,375/7,500 that for house minus AC. I've got a 2,000/1,600 inverter for camping/etc. Thinking about a 4375/3,500 for house minus 240 outlets. This would consume less fuel but we wouldn't have hot water. OR Something massive that powers everything. The good news is that even though I'm 10 miles off the eastern coast in the Mid-Atlantic, the longest I've lost power is 1.5 days in the last 6 years (knock on wood). But having small kids now, no power and no AC can be a nightmare. Hobart also makes one called the Champion Elite that is actually made my Miller (just has less welding functions)....

What generator are you using? I've got a 9,375/7,500 portable that runs everything minus my 3.5ton but have considered buying something bigger in the event we need AC.Elixir wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:55 pm Are you completely sold on a fully automatic system? Do you need to run everything in your house simultaneously? I only ask because the route we went here in Southwest FL was having an interlock kit installed in our panel and we have a 50amp inlet box that we connect to a portable generator. It runs our 3 ton AC/fridge/lights with ease and most everything else “needed” in an outage. We are using a 10,000 surge/8,000 running watts generator for reference that runs on propane or gasoline.

. What am I doing wrong? Is it really this hard to find a job nowadays? I am applying mostly office positions but now I’m starting to wonder if I should just apply at McDonald’s. Is it my age? I can’t even believe how difficult it is to get a job, as opposed to when I was in my 20s and 30s. I really wanted to help take the burden off my husband with all the bills but I feel like giving up. :? Have you considered a sales job? I got a commission sales job while in college selling wireless phones with little experience. Excellent benefits and pay. I was able to make the median HH income for my city with just my single source of income. The downside with sales is that you will work some weekend and holidays, not your typical M-F 9/5 workload.

Personal Cloud Storage NAS - I'm Interestd!
Friend of mine purchased a WD 4TB My Cloud Home Personal Cloud Storage (link below) to remotely view files on home computer. I got to thinking, this might solve my photo situation. https://www.amazon.com/Cloud-Home-Personal-Storage-WDBVXC0040HWT-NESN/dp/B076CTK55W/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=wd+storage+nas&qid=1564581745&s=gateway&sr=8-7 Situation: We have a TON of kids and dog photos saved. Started using the iPhone shared albums for my wife and I to add photos. We hit the limit and I didn't want to pay the reoccurring charge. I moved all of the albums to Google Photos. Works like the iPhone shared album, just in a different Google App. Works perfect! I know there is a 15gig limit that I will approach in the future. My thought is that w...

several multiple-day power outages on my street in the last two years, and were just informed my the power company that their project to bury the power lines has been suspended indefinitely. We have above ground and while easier to knock down, it's also easier to located and fix vs underground lines. Plus they pose a risk to people so quickly fixed. Do you plan on moving? If so, would you even consider a portable generator? They can be had for under $1,000 and can move house to house. (12) 5 gallons cost $300,filled once a year and stored a shed. Dump in car if not used. Like other have said, natural gas can fail and leave you powerless. With gasoline, you are good plus the generator isn't tied to the home. If the whole home is the only op...

For a salaried employee, it seems like a pain on the manager because it's not as if you can just start clocking 8 less hours and the paycheck automatically decreases. Plus benefits that are only held by full time employees.
Instead, I would push for 4 10 hours days with 1 day off.

They are expensive, but solid. If you do purchase, get the Pro. They are 24" lower cabinets where the Bold and other lines have 18" deep cabinets. The price per sqft of storage is the same, but the pros are better quality.
Started from scratch and did 1x8's horizontal to look like a cabin. Sheetrock under would have been a plus for the fire rating.

I wouldn't invest the extra payment in the market. Instead, put the extra payment in a bank account that pays >1.875%. I would treat this as additional emergency fund and once you have saved more than what is owed on the house, you can decide to pay off as a lump sum.

I'm planning to add 5 cameras outside to cover drive way and front doors. Must haves are:
- few days of backup that can be remote viewed
- ability to watch live from iPhone
- Send notification on motion
My neighbors swear by NEST and admittedly they are pretty sweet. They check all of the boxes except the device cost and monthly reoccurring cost. Cameras are around $150 each ($750 initial purchase) plus $170/year for the service.
Does anyone have any other recommendations that check those boxes like this? Thanks!

Second tech a leak in the homes "original coolant line". Old coil is gone, 2nd tech can't say anything about coil. 2nd tech said compressor damaged due to leak. I guess you can’t prove the first coil but I’d make it a point that you will post the timeline of events to every social media site, over and over until you die or the problem is fixed/refunded. As far as the compressor being broke, you definitely had a leak and that’s definitely on you. May 22 - I pay $500 for the coolant and service fees. I still owe $700 for Coil. The coolant leaks out and the AC stops working in less than 48 hours. May 29th - AC company replaces coil and the cost comes to $900 after charging me $700 for coil labor and $200 for more coolant. June 5th - AC company sends out a different tech and says the leak is in the line running outside underground. It will be $250 to replace. Plus the Compressor is likely now damaged and will need to be replaced at cost of $1000 for labor. You paid $500 for coolant/fees because they said the coil was leaking (Pay) + $700 for a coil that didn't need to be replaced (Shouldn't pay). Then another $200 in coolant (Based on the coil which is false, shouldn't pay). Now $250 ...

20x20 is more of a garage than a shed.
If you want the bottom plate near grade:
Pour a monolithic slab and frame up.
If you want the bottom plate above grade:
Pour a footer, set a course or 2 of block, pour the slab and frame up.
For the walls, you really are better off having a 2nd set of hands. Build walls in 8-12’ sections, raise and brace. The 2nd set of hands is just there to stabilize, not really do much heavy lifting.
I would hire out the footer/slab. I’ve done by fair share of concrete work (building a 1,000sqft garage right now) and would do the footer and block, but not the slab and finishing.

Dirt delivered can be purchased, but people pay where I live around $50/load to dump. If you take for free that saves them $ plus cost you nothing.
Dump truck runs $150/load with no fee since places take for free to crush and sell. I just had 500sqft remove in 2 loads.
So you have a couple hundred $ in the dump truck, plus the machine ($2,000/week to rent) and labor and potentially dirt cost if you can't find for free.
