Hi Greenberry

Thanks for the suggestions.
We're interested in all you have to say. I wonder if anyone else might want to check in with some other pros and cons for us to mull over. Mel, Taylor, Laura or Larry S?

In any case, we'll be back with our completed plan. We appreciate your help very much.

E Trade change in fees for overseas withdrawals?

Hi jcm55, I checked E Trade fees. I see they now do charge for foreign transactions, and the language about the conversion rate makes it sound as though we couldn't count on getting the interbank rate. Foreign Transactions. If you conduct a transaction in a currency other than U.S. dollars, the merc...

Thoughts about doing the same in Spain?

Hi, We've used ATMs tied to our credit union in the States here in Spain. There's always about a 2% surcharge over and above the interbank rank listed on Oanda. The CU in the States says it is charging us no fees at all. I think it's the Spanish ATM. So far, we haven't been able to find any ATMs tha...

AARP in Cal..

I'm not using any meds, so I looked for the cheapest plan I could find in Cal last December. That was an AARP plan. Wel! That very same plan doubles in price for 2008. How many of the 900,000 subscribers to that plan will realize in time and switch to another plan? Not to be cynical, but I'll bet a ...

Slightly OT - a comment and a question

I'm not a big spender either. It's pretty easy for me not to consume. I just don't feel like buying a bunch of junk. I do buy some good quality things and keep them for a long time. I actually feel sorry for people who are tempted to buy a lot of things--so many of those folks rack up credit card de...

Subject line--a suggestion

Hi A couple of times I've responded to a post, writing my own post with a subject line. But then I noticed that my subject line does not appear online. Now that I've had that experience, I've seen some other posts that seem to begin in the middle of a sentence and I thik it's because those posters a...

Which money market?

... would you recommend for a $100 k plus emergency fund for a business in California? There are 4 owners, with tax brackets ranging from 25% to 35%. And, also, what do you think of this: one of the owners feels uncomfortable having the fund at Vanguard because she has an IRA at Vanguard, on the the...

Hi, Thanks for all those replies. I'll try downloading the program tomorrow. I'll be looking to see if it will work with Firefox. I avoid using Windows programs because, due to a major computer crash, I ended up having to install a new version of XP Pro which I guess isn't really legit, so I no long...

Download Vanguard tax info to my computer?

I've just tried downloading my tax infomrnation and saving it to my computer. I can read it online, but then when I save it, what gets saved is the form itself, without the information. It looks like I would be able to print the forms out, complete with all my info, but what I want to do is have it ...
