Re: Exit from Stocks WSJ

I just hit my 5/25 rebalancing band today, so I moved 5% stocks into bonds. It was a true test of my discipline to "ignore the noise, follow your IPS". I passed the test! I must admit though I did spend about 30 minutes hesitating, stewing in my emotions, trying to imagine where stocks will go next,...

When it comes to buying things that usually involve interacting with sales associates or customer service reps, I don't like to haggle or negotiate. I am attracted to "WYSIWYG" pricing. Sounds much too risky to me. To risk losing 1/2 of my investment net worth at age 55 sounds ludicrous. Its risky, sure. If you have twice as much as you think you'll need, it's not too risky however. If you have twice as much as you think you'll need, you'd be crazy to take all of that risk (100% e...

Yes fixed income means bonds. 90/10 is fine for now since you're in the beginning stages of saving. What is your savings rate? What are your loan amounts? Taxable: 100 shares of Bank of America and 40 shares of Ford = $1,100. I would sell all of it right away to pay down the 6% loan. Please edit you...

Welcome to the forum! Depends on your philosophy, your goal, why you've already narrowed it down to one of these two bond funds. You could twist my arm to buy into stock for a 10-year goal, but IMO buying stock for a 5-year strategy is too risky, especially when the 10-year is just for a car and the 5-year is for a house. I'm assuming here we're not saving up for a used 2015 Bentley.
