The Turbo may be a sticking point in your price range. Consider test driving a VW Jetta. The 2.0L 4cyl is not the turbo version used in the GTI, but you may find it more than adequate. I live in the Deep South and have driven VWs and Audis for years. Their A/C is up to the challenge.
