Try Free Tax USA. Worked very well. Federal is free and you only pay for states. +1 I have used FreeTAXUSA for 4 years now. Return filed and final return can be printed as a PDF file so no hard copy necessary. Has worked well for me. In my case (OH) the state site has a free return for that too. I ...

I have that "feature" on my VW Tiguan. On this vehicle the engine shuts off when you stop (using your brakes) and it will restart when you move you foot off of the brakes. It, of course can be turned off, and reengages when you restart the vehicle. I initially disliked it and turned off al...

I leave my RMD to year end and have my entire estimated tax withheld at that time. +1 on that. RMD is set on 12/31 of prior year. Very easy to just let it grow and the RMD to come out 100% in December of current year. Even better if the amount equals or exceeds annual estimated Federal (in some cas...

When you analyze the impact future RMDs will have on your tax rate, also look at a sole survivor scenario too. It might be worth it to convert now up to the top of the 12% bracket if you can pay for the taxes out of your gift/cash flow. Many do not look at the "sole survivor scenario" clo...

If you are really "close" in income one way to reduce it somewhat if you own any Bank/CU CD's. You can withdraw them early and incur a Early Withdrawal Penalty (EWP). Any penalty can be used to reduce AGI. Can also be done with brokered CD's too but is a bit more involved.
