If you're using Hertz and are a gold member you need to be careful to pick a car from the correct lot. I almost drove away in a SUV after reserving a mid-size sedan because the naming of their car lots were very similar.

Can’t you use it until it hits 36K and then return it? I think they are usually 36K miles OR 3 years. This is not true. I know someone who attempted to return a lease early and they will add on the average miles they'd expect to to be used each month till the end of the lease and bill you for them....

OP,

When I applied for a mortgage in Texas and refinanced a couple times, it was all only on my name. We both are on the deed though.

It's been more than a decade now and we have had zero problems so I highly recommend it (if financially possible to do it on one income).
