Thanks Mel If your bank is an agent for the Federal Reserve (most are), then the date of issue is the date you purchase them at the bank Many thanks; I was not sure if there was another date of execution between the govt and the bank and if that might be the important date. Thank you. Countryboy

When it is said that I Bonds purchased in April 2008 will pay 4.28% for first six months and then 6.06% for the second six months. Is that absolutely 100% certain? I live in the suburb 60mins outside NYC. Twenty years ago the parking lots around the train station was empty by 7pm. Now at 7am the lots are full and more full than you would believe at 7pm.This leaves the retained employees doing what was previously 1.5 - 3 peoples jobs.
