Extra 4k/yr and other increased expenses that's a nice little family vacation. Ask your kids if they would rather have a nice little vacation each year or a bigger house

Re: 75 gallon hot water heaters

I assume you are concerned with electric? I had the same issue back in 2015. The laws changed that year raising the bar for efficiency. All of the major manufacturers at that time didn't have water heaters larger than 50gal that met the new standards. When I researched back in 2015 the only options ...

It's kinda fun to see what you wind up with. My favorite was when I had a reservation for a midsize sedan and they gave me a Ford Transit  (Yes the delivery van). Plenty of head room in those things!

Re: Amazon Prime Getting Stingy?

I'd say we are heavy users of prime (5-10 orders per week). We've had only two real issues this past year and both occasions the item was sold by a third party. If given the choice, always select sold by Amazon and fulfilled by Amazon.

We love prime!

My Honda pilot was part of the original air bag recall. I believe the recall addressed the shrapnel only not the airbag going off unexpectedly.

I brought my Honda pilot in for service on Monday this week and they performed additional work on the airbags. They said there is another recall.

Re: payoff my mortgage ?

To those who suggest paying off the mortgage, when looking at loan amortization wouldn't the last ~three years be mostly principal? If I were the OP I would look at the amortization and see exactly how much interest is left on the loan to make a decision.

Kids definitely enjoy the pool. We use ours several times a week in the summer. Maintenance is not difficult to do yourself especially if you have a salt system. The cleaning is very monotonous...Leaves blow in the pool and I dig them out. A week later the wind has blown more crap in and I dig it ou...

Re: Home warranties - worth it?

Every home warranty company will also charge a service fee whenever they dispatch someone to fix your problem. Expect to pay ~$65 per trade per service request. For example, a/c and garage door would be $130 in service fees. Soon that $500 warranty is really 600, 700, 800 dollars... After paying $50...

Stream it on Xbox video or rent it from an honest to God local movie rental store. Usually though, we wait long after they are "new releases" because we have a huge list of movies that we want to watch and haven't even gotten to yet. That is actually why we still go to the local DVD rental store. T...

Re: Newbie - Need help with my first taxable account

The taxable account can lose money too. If you had 100K taxable account that was 60K stocks, you could lose 30K if stocks crash. It's not an all or nothing deal. You can do a little of both so you can't be 100% wrong either way. What about investing 2.8K/month in the taxable account and paying $100...
