Re: I bought the wrong car - know it after 15 days

The problem is even with just a few miles on the car, once its titled in you name they can not sell it as a new vehicle any more, they have to sell it as used. At this point if you cannot live with the current car all you can due it take your loss and move on. I would first try and see what the ori...

I bought the wrong car - know it after 15 days

OK, researched ad nauseum - I chose the wrong car. My back is killing me - too hard to get in and out. wrong seats for my back. YES, I did test drive the model more than once and I sat in them about three different times. The dealership's owner owns both Acura and Lexus across the street. I talked t...

Re: Buying a new car

P.S. Perhaps I put the local dealership at a disadvantage since I did go through a salesman there who would have had to have got a commission. Perhaps it would have been better to do my test driving farther from home. In any case, the local dealership has been happy to do any warranty work over the...

Re: Withdrawal Strategies for Larger Purchases after Retiring

Addressing the main Q of withdrawal strategy: I have large majority of my assets in tax-deferred accounts, so I manage my taxable retirement income to be roughly the same or a bit more each year in retirement. RMDs will start for me in 2020, so I maintain a projection of how that, in addition to fu...

Re: Withdrawal Strategies After Retiring

IIRC both Otar and Kitces are against bucket strategies. If you just have a normal asset allocation and maintain it then you won't be selling equities in a down market... Because you'll be taking withdrawals from bonds to rebalance. Kitces also has research showing that maintaining a multi year cas...

Re: Withdrawal Strategies After Retiring

People like to say "money is fungible", but when it is in tax-deferred accounts, that's not so true, is it? When you have much of your retirement funds wrapped by a tax cost to withdraw, it definitely takes some thought about what is the right way to fund big one-time expenses. I would spend some t...

Re: Want to buy 2014 Acura TSX - turned in lease

Generally speaking sales for a particular model do trail off as you get later in the model year. Some people hold off to wait for the major redesign (in this case would be for the '15 TLX) or look for newer model competitors. So there might not be that many '14 CPOs as say '13 or '12. But I doubt i...

I have to start a new post, because the subject matter has changed. I'm now only considering the above two cars. We test drove the 2013 Lexus ES350. I didn't like the seats. The interior of the 2012 was much nicer and much more comfortable. So that's my dilemma now: 2013 TSX 4 cylinder or 2012 Lexus - V6 - with CPO's. Pros and cons as I see them thus far: 2012 is pretty old for the Lexus and it has the old gri...

The last rev of the TSX had uninspiring performance compared to the previous rev and many didn't like the redesigned of the front end. Ignore the dealer, he's just trying to get you to buy now. Still, there is data to indicate that you'll have a harder time finding 2014 vs 2013. Note that TSX model year begins April the year before calendar year. I don't think last model year is going to be a major factor in fewer lease returns, b...
