Denver metro: average rent is $1,371 for a one-bedroom apartment. http://www.denverpost.com/2016/07/21/de ... time-high/

So, I anticipate that $1K might get you a studio or a room in a private home.

Thanks for replies so far. Barnacle: $1,800 of the $2,000 cost reflects recommended maintenance at 120,000 miles (according to owner's manual), so spacing out the maintenance is possible, but I don't believe it would be terribly helpful. Expensive car maintenance or allocate to next car fund?

My car has 125,000 miles on it and I had planned to drive it until at least 150,000 miles, if not more. I’m faced with a car repair/maintenance bill of ~$2,000, which I can afford, but I am wondering if instead I should skip most of the repairs and add the $2,000 to the next car fund. Original cost ...

As a follow up, I25 from Denver to Co Spgs is relatively flat and not terribly curvy. The Monument Hill area (~23 miles north of Co Spgs on I25) is at a higher elevation and can be problematic in winter; it should not be a problem for you at this time of year.

Netting $15K is a miniscule amount for the trouble of moving and acquiring a substantial amount of debt. Plus, $15K/340 = ~4%, which is certainly not my definition of a hot market.
