Re: Too much house, right?

If you do this, don’t compromise on things that are very hard to change.

For example, the advice to shrink the house. Don’t do that and then spend 20 years regretting it.

You can afford it but think through each piece. For example, with kids we always wanted a neighborhood feel.

Re: What are average incomes for luxury vehicle purchases? Will help me decide

Um. Not sure what expensive neighborhoods you are driving through. An Escalade, a Range Rover, and a toy car (ie 911), seems to be the standard. When driving through expensive neighborhoods, you often see pretty normal, even shabby cars in the driveway. Maybe they belong to the maid, butler, gardene...

I think you are projecting too much of your personal struggle. I think you should just stay where you are with the pay cut. It happens all the time in companies. Umm. Taxes are horrible throughout the state. Everyone kept telling me when we moved to WNY how the cost of living was lower. Well, it wasn’t. Our house was half the cost but due to taxes our monthly payment was the same. Sales tax, much higher. Income tax, sky high. These things never work for me i...

People believe this because they have an inability to think over long periods of time. Strong companies take a while to die and it happens infrequently enough so that people operate as if it 'never happens'.

1) The current and past CEOs are not Jack Bogle. They are corporate executives, not founders. There should be zero expectation they will become billionaires.

2) Their comp is likely roughly in-line with their competition.

This is kind of a ridiculous statement from Buckley.

Many of the ones that have pensions spend all their income. I live in DC. Ok, so you chose a wide plank solid product from a non top line manufacturer. You are going to have problems.

If you go wide plank and want high quality you need a solid sawn product from a company like Vintage.
