I don't follow all the fuss about heavy cash allocation and people making a distinction between investing it vs it not being invested. It is part of someone's net worth. In hindsight it might be nice to not have purchased the car but new cars have high depreciation so cannot advocate it always makes sense to sell it after the fact.

I don't believe all plans have to allow this. Also what if they allow the penalty free access but only a single lump sum withdrawal - what good would that do? Would have to transfer to IRA and then you would not get the benefit of penalty free withdrawals @ 55.

That is a ridiculous statement if someone doesn't want to be invested 100% in equities.Last year alone, that is what 400-600k depending on asset allocation for the 2m alone?

If you are looking for good cushion I bought slippers from Olukai (good cushion + fuzzy inside). I didn't want a fuzzy inside because for me they are too warm but couldn't find (good cushion + non-fuzzy inside) - so (good cushion + fuzzy inside) won out. They have a very substantial removable cushion.

Wouldn't the owner of the home have to somehow be negligent of something to win a judgement against? If I go to my neighbors house, clime a tree and fall out are you saying no jury would argue I was responsible for my actions? Not at all?

The issue of health care seems somewhat unsolvable. I don't get the impression that most companies want folks sticking around until 65 at which point they are eligible for medicare.

Thank for the responses. Sounds like I am not off base - bottom line was I found it hard to believe anyone's retirement is dialed in to within a few thousand dollars either way - seems like noise - caveat being a reasonable middle class lifestyle.

You are missing the point of my thread. I am trying to reconcile some of the posters comments regarding being careful about having 0's in the SS calculation and then looking at the dollar amounts involved and thinking they are small.

This analysis seems flawed. No gain for such a long period of time
and then saying a conservative withdrawal rate of 3% - which is
conservative for any age - let alone the age of OP in 2036 seems
