Re: Why Purchase an Automobile using Premium Gasoline?

Do people believe some brands use 'special' detergents in their gas that is worth paying a premium on? According to AAA and Consumer Reports using gasoline brands with "special detergents" is worthwhile. "Location and price drive gasoline sales, according to a new survey by the American Automobile ...

Re: Sneakers with good arch support

I'm a big fan of Saloman trail hiking shoes for everyday use. I carry some extra body weight and no other brand that I have tried seems to offer the support that Saloman shoes do.

When I was a kid my mother made be take a teaspoon of cod liver oil every morning. It was hard to get down but the worst part was burping it up the rest of the day.

Re: Bosch dishwasher odor

I have a Bosch dishwasher that is about 3 years old. I never noticed any odors but after reading this post I cleaned the filter for the first time. There was some gunk but not that much considering that I never cleaned it before. I am OCD so I always rinse before putting dishes in the machine.

A word of caution if traveling to Canada. The laws pertaining to the possession of Mace, pepper spray, or bear spray are more restrictive across the border. This may be the case in other countries too.

Re: Aftermarket auto-body parts

Thank you all very much for the valuable comments. I am much less concerned now about the use of aftermarket replacement parts.

Aftermarket auto-body parts

My eleven year-old Toyota Rav4 collided with a deer this weekend. My insurance company said that the repair would fall under my comprehensive coverage policy. I took the Rav to a reputable body shop for an estimate. There I was told that the repairs would be made with aftermarket body parts unless I...

Re: Transporting bikes with an SUV?

, plus you don't have to worry about running into the drive through and tearing the bikes off the roof. …or the car wash...don't ask me how I know. I now have a Kuat tray-style hitch mount rack. Not cheap but it is a work of art that functions just as well. I use mine 4-5 times a week so I feel it ...

Re: Should I replace my water heater?

Just bought a new house and the water heater is 15 years old but functional. It is located in the garage. Where I live, gas water heaters that are located in a residential garage must be installed 18 inches above the floor. NFPA 54: National Fuel Gas Code 2015 Chapter 9 Appliance, Equipment, and Ac...

Re: Road trip Pennsylvania,Maryland,and DC

You may also want to consider flying into Harrisburg, PA (MDT). MDT is a very low stress airport compared to PHL, IAD, or BWI. Not to mention fewer delays. HIA (MDT) is now served by Delta, United, and American, but yes, flight choices are limited. Frontier is starting service in July. http://www.fl...

Re: traveling to mexico, should I be concerned?

* Leave your passport at the hotel - either in your in-room safe or the hotel safe (in some hotels, these are like safe-deposit boxes at banks, where you get one of two keys required to open the box). Same for any electronics you may take with you - put them in the safe while you're not in your roo...

Re: Favorite socks?

I have a severe case of SOD (sock obsession disorder). Year-round I wear only wool socks. I prefer Farm to Feet and Darn Tough brands. In my opinion, Smartwool jumped the shark a few years ago. Smartwool quality is not what it used to be.

Re: Custom shades from Home Depot

I have several custom Levelor cordless bottom up top down cellular blinds purchased at HD. They are over ten years old and twice I had an internal cord break. I think the repair was $15 each and I had to pay one way shipping too. The customer service was good and I think the warranty for cord breaka...

Re: Playa del Carmen Vacation -- Excursion and Restaurant tips

Don't trust any of the ATMs in Playa. I tried using a Santander bank ATM and the money was deducted from my US bank account but no cash was dispensed. Then had a big hassle getting this fixed.
