We always carry mace and/or rocks when we go running/walking/biking. Had too many encounters with dogs running loose or owners intentionally letting them off their leashes.

No need for snow tires. Usually only a few snows beyond light accumulation per season.

Enjoy the museum. It is very nice and free.

Beavercreek is a very nice living area if working on the base.

We always decline to attend these destination type of weddings due to following poor assumptions the couples tend to make:

- assuming the guests have passports
- assuming guests can take off time from work, etc.
- assuming guests are willing to pay for travel and lodging

Family obligations or health reasons are two good ideas to explore if that pertains to you. However, making up something or even stretching the truth could subject many employees to immediate termination (with no chance to "improve" performance). I think "say no and tell them why" is your only hope...

Anyone else use your vacation time and not travel?

Fortunate to live in a city that has professional sports teams, race tracks, lots of golf courses, great parks, always included on major concerts, etc. Consequently, most of the PTO is used without leaving the area.

Why are y’all paying for someone else’s education? Military service, loans, working part or full time are still viable options to finance one’s education. Also, it’s a great way to accelerate the maturity curve.

This is a great discussion. We are renters and are sometimes embarrassed to discuss this with colleagues. For now, we choose renting due to simplicity (perhaps lower stress as well from not having to deal with maintenance, mortgage stress, etc) and to avoid lifestyle creep.

According to the tax plan calculator (thank you for the link) we’ll save around $2500. This is great news for us! The calculators were way off for forecasting our situation. Any recommendations? The money is currently available for investment allocations in a rollover account. What did you roll it over from, and when? What was the previous allocation of this money and why was it cashed? It was a pension buy out from a former employer (no longer offering pension program).

It’s a balance between adding some amount of complexity via credit card usage to gain some “cash back” points versus paying with cash or debit card. Most of our points have come from the new card member bonuses.
