Thanks for all the detailed replies! Cycling duo I have some serious research to do. For such a big decision it will be worth it. I just want us to find a healthy balance of living our life with our expenses and have a daily living space that would make both of us happy too.

Thanks for the reply! So 432k total. I'm not sure if that would bring much of an upgrade. Reason to move might be some more space/privacy in general for our growing family. Current schools good, neighborhood are good. We are literally just exploring options.

Ages: upper 30s

Agreed on the taxable cash. We have been spending it and deferring more than usual from our paychecks. Almost maxing 457 and 403b each. This is just temporary to lower the cash level.

NYSDCB Equity Index U/A (CIT)
NYSDCP International Equity Fund - Passive
NYSDCB US Debt Index U/A (CIT)

I would say yes it would replace it. Both have low fees. 457 wins for ease of set up. Transparency. And don't forget that if you seperate from service for any reason before age 59.5 then you would have access to the 457 money without penalty. I use both but if I picked one it would be the 457. You don't need a playstation vue to use the streaming service playstation vue. It is the worst marketing ever by them. It is fully available on Apple TV and Roku.

If one was to transfer over 100k to the ally brokerage from the ally savings I would imagine it to be a smooth process. However, for an emergency fund where could one park the money to keep a comparable rate that it was getting in the ally savings?

Are you sure Transamerica is your only provider? For years, I thought I only had one provider only to find out there were actually 18 different providers! Do you have a third party administrator of the plans? They would have this info.

Ended up changing our minds and buying a refurbished 6s at Best Buy. If repairing was going to be close to 200 and a used was 330 we decided to go with the used. Hope it works out.

The NY 457 does not have any other % fees to my knowledge. Think it is 20$ per year. Google their paperwork and it is very clear and transparent. ( unlike the other 403b mess you are dealing with )

No need for 50k for Wellington. My wife uses it. I "make" the total stock market using the large cap index and small cap index. Also, using the bond/debt index. Some of the fund names are a little different than you are probably used too.

I do wish those were vanguard target funds.

I went through a similar adventure last year. Look for my threads. Bottom line is if it has a % next to it then that is a bad sign! Maybe put "403b or 457" in your thread title and maybe Krow36 will chime in. He helped me navigate the muddy waters of the 403b for me.
