One recommendations is to avoid Frankfurt airport. Super long line and super busy. Blame Britxit, Frankfurk is the new financial center of Europe, aka European NYC.

You can fly into Koln but no directly. From US,you will fly into Amsterdam 1st and then take a small regional plane into Koln/Bonn airport. You can rent a car. Don't push the RMD limit to age 70.5 There is penalty for that. One should start Roth conversion as early as possible to reduce the future RMD.

A 6D MkII body + 70-200 f/4.0 L lens would do. For portrait, 85-105mm is good for closer range. 135-200mm for longer range. so 70-200f/4.0 covers most of the range.

State charges fees plus the vanguard so the total fee are not low. I think State uses 529 as state budget revenue. So choose lowest total fee (state+vanguard).
