I set to 46 and have had no problems. I put a thermostat in the garage which is the coldest exposure my pipes have and it has never been below 42 which gives me a ten degree buffer.

thanks for starting this thread, Op. I am also very unclear on AMT changes with the new tax changes. If income is $500,000 and one takes deductions, will there be AMT? My taxes will go up 17k with the new tax reform changes due to losing state tax and limiting property tax deductions, but I paid 19k...

I finally saw Florence Foster Jenkins on TV recently and was thoroughly delighted. I thought it would be a bit stodgy but it had me laughing out loud. Meryl is outstanding as usual but I was charmed by Hugh Grant's performance.

I saw Phantom thread and enjoyed it. The ending was a surprise to me and I am not sure how I feel about it but I had liked the movie to that point. DDL is mesmerizing to watch. It seems premature for him to be retiring.

I decided to "hold my place" at this time rather than configure... I deferred to 9/2018 hoping I can still get the tax deduction then. Have you had a chance to test drive one yet? I have yet to see a live one in around Boston area. Unless I get to test drive it at the store, I am not taking delivery sight unseen. I just got the email to configure my model 3. I haven't decided yet whether to do it. I want the big battery but not all the premium upgrades but I am afraid to lose the federal tax credit if I wait for round 2.

Not really. My taxes will go down about $200 vs the old law. They could easily go up in 2020 though. CA, lost tons of deductions with SALT cap. Claw back a little with lower rates, but the $200-500k bracket for singles actually goes up 2% and the SALT cap isn’t indexed to anything so will get less ...

It looks like there is a tax hike for income from 200k to 418k unless I am misreading it? new rate is 35% from 200-500k but old rate was 33% from around 191k to 418k.

Tax Reform Bill
You'd lose $17,245

according to the calculator I got to in the big thread on the bill, I would pay about 17k more. I don't know if this is offset by amt though. I paid 19k in amt last year.
