Re: Flaunt Your High-Mileage Car

Various cars in the fleet (three kids who drive), but highest mileage currently is the 2008 Camry Hybrid at 170,000 miles, purchased new. It has lived a hard life at the high school and various university parking lots recently. Just put some money into it for an inverter coolant plate leak, so hopin...

I have been following BaT for several years now (before they transitioned to an auction platform), and find this information very useful. I am considering listing a classic car with them in the spring, so it was good to get your perspective as a seller. Cheers :sharebeer !

Thanks for this excellent post, VT. So timeless that it belongs in a Wiki for beginning investors, IMHO. Re: Battery Life - 2008 Toyota Hybrid Camry

One data point: Our 2008 Camry hybrid shows zero signs of battery problems at 134K miles. It has been the lowest cost to operate vehicle we have ever owned. Side note: it is still on the original brake pads, whereas our other vehicles typically need new pads at 50-60K miles. I would buy another Toyo...

Re: Honda Pilot vs Toyota Highlander?

We looked at both of these when it came to replace my wife's twelve year old SUV. We have owned (and continue to own) several Toyota and Honda products with excellent reliability. We chose the Pilot primarily because the third row access for occasional use seemed much more well designed, and the spi...

Re: Car-Certified Lexus LS 460 Vs New ES 350 Vs New RX 350

Like you, we have owned a number of Honda and Toyota products well past their warranty period with no expensive maintenance surprises, unlike previous Volkswagen or Audi products. I live in the Midwest as well, and currently drive a 2011 ES 350, but we have fewer months of winter and less snow than ...

The Suburban will roll over 140K miles on the trip. The vehicle has taken us all over the country in relative comfo...

We also keep vehicles a long time. My wife's car is currently a 2002 GM SUV with 130,000 miles on the clock. My experience with long term Audi ownership was also very costly. I purchased an A4 new and kept it maintained per the manufacturer's recommendations and was rewarded with typical repair cost...

Portfolio Help - Long-time BH but first-time DIY

Hello all: I have been a reader of the forum for the last several years since converting to a passive investment philosophy in the early 2000s. I have a time-consuming (and at times stressful) professional life, and my stay-at-home wife and I are the proud parents of three great kids. Between family...

Sorry I missed the earlier thread and reposted.

While we're on the topic of market forecasts, I would like to go on the record as predicting that my portfolio will increase in value at some point in the future. Perhaps I can leverage this in to a book deal.

Regards,

Hoi

My family will have a day or so to spend in this area before proceeding to Glacier National Park for the week. Having spent very little time in the PNW, we would welcome any recommendations for attractions in this area. The children are ages 16, 14 and 10. Thank you in advance for any input.
