Re: Post your Financial Milestone Announcements Here

First off, congratulations to everyone on their milestones! It’s great to hear them and be inspired! Trying to achieve the first 100k before 2020!!! It’s going to be super close, but we’ll see. DW and I have always heard how hard the first 100k is, so definitely looking forward to checking that one ...

Good evening to all!! Thanks to this forum, I’ve learned a great deal of learning about finances, things that should be done vs things to avoid. I’m currently in my mid 30’s. I currently am a mechanic at a MegaCorp. I have been slowly going to school pursuing a career as a mechanical engineer. My qu...

64gb iPhone SE here! Bought in 2017 from cricket for $200! I love the form factor of the phone. Battery was starting to show it's bad side a month or so ago. Apple replaced the battery for $49, as the $29 battery replacement promotion has expired. Bought a new crave case from Amazon, and phone is li...

Re: Finally getting started, now need some guidance

My employer has an ESOP, If you choose to invest in the employers stock, the er is paid by the company. The company uses Voya, and fund choices are slim, with 1-2% er's I believe. So I do have that 401k, but I don't want to be completely dependent on my company for both my paycheck and my nest egg. ...

Caduceus, 1. Didn’t fully understand your question, but my first reason I chose this area is because it’s the leading university in the state, and I also have many contacts at both the community college and the university. Second of all, my wife has family in the new area and we wouldn’t be extremel...

That was exactly my plan, the University I'm planning on attending has a community college who works closely with the University and has a high acceptance transfer rate. But I'd have to move either way. The college near me currently would be more "iffy" as far as transferring and being accepted by t...

Sales for bare bones condos in the same community have been in the 75k, and we're talking bare bones, compared to this one. My MIL is selling a condo she has, it's completely renovated, floors, kitchen cabinets, appliances, water heater, and bathrooms. She's offered it to me for 80k. HOA is $270, includes ...

Help with car insurance coverage

I've been cutting as much fluff out of our bills lately. I recently have tried doing my homework on car insurance and how much to have/need. Currently have Alllstate, and we’re paying $230/month. I've had various quotes ranging from I believe to be the bare bones, which progressive quoted $100/month...

Don't be in hurry to buy a house; they're not particularly good investments. If you want to be in one place for a long time & to be able to customize it to your tastes, owning a home is great.
