I agree with everyone that suggests getting a minivan. We have two kids and bought a Certified Sienna XLE in 2008 and haven't regretted it for a minute. Be sure to buy one that has power sliding doors and liftgate. Those options are worth their weight in gold.

I've ridden the Empire Builder between Indiana and North Dakota a few times and have really enjoyed it. It's definitely worth the extra money to get the Roomette sleeper if you're going to be on a long trip.
