sk2101 wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 10:28 am Triple citizenship here. I think it's very valuable when traveling, as some countries are not so friendly towards the US and in those cases I can use another passport. Also, some countries require Visas for Americans and not for other citizenships, it's nice to be able to travel (almost) everywhere without a visa.

Another value is the optionality. It gives the option to go live in other countries at retirement, or to spend considerable amounts of time in different countries. I see myself living at least part-time in Europe when retired.
Agree with the above, I have dual citizenships (US and country of birth) and pursuing my third.

Re: CarMax service

Carmax sold me a $65k SUV with bad tires, the car was vibrating at highway speeds. I took it back to them and they said they balanced and rotated the tires which should fix the problem. They were wrong, I took the car to the dealership and they said front tires had excessive wear on the inside and need to be replaced. I contacted Carmax and informed them of the dealership finding but they said that tires are within Carmax specs and they would not replace. I ended up replacing all four tires at Discount tire for $1500 and the problem gone away. The car got alignment at Lexus dealership for $175 as well.

Will never buy or take my car to Carmax ever, they don't honor their own warranty when they sell you the vehicle. I am done with them.

Lexus LX 570 or 2nd choice is Toyota LC, they are the best of the best, the rest of the class Mercedes, BMW and Audi are nice and modern but should be kept only under warranty and traded when warranty expires. Range Rover is crap and brakes down a lot, even under warranty it is not convenient to live at the dealership once a month, a friend of mine is suffering a lot.

Nobody mentioned the great resale value of the LX570 and LC, these things hold value better than the others by far.

Per consumer report Mazda reliability > Honda, CX-5 and CX-9 are gorgeous looking cars and worth a test drive for sure.

Highlander is a no brainer, great suv and could be bought Hybrid,

Subarus are good cars but ugly in my opinion, and I don't like CVT transmissions.

Mazda 3 is a fun car, more than Civics and Corollas and they are also reliable, and the 2019 as mentioned before is also getting good reviews. I would not buy VW, it is not reliable. Civic styling screams ricer and corolla is a great car but super boring.

Not sure of the rates beyond 10M
Fees are not per quarter but are annual.

Thanks for commenting. You'd think a high end dealer would go out of their way to help far more than mainstream ones. Did you have it done at the independent shop? If so, were you specific in what you asked them to check for or did you leave it to their discretion?
No I changed my mind and did not buy the car, but talke to the Indy shop which were Porsche only mechanics with great reputation and they mentioned that they will do full inspection and look for all trouble spots and it will take around two hours.

Re: Another should i buy my dream porsche thread...

By all means go for it, you are 10 years ahead of me at the time on your savings and retirement
I am 62 with net worth around 3 millions, I always loved Porsche and dreamed owning one, but retirement was always on my mind and I did retire at age 59. Now I can afford paying cash for the car I always loved, but when I tried one, it was difficult for me to enter the car and then when I wanted to exit I needed to grab and pull hard enough so I could stand and I need more space for feeling comfortable. When you are 60 and beyond things become more difficult and you lose patience and flexibility. If I had to do it all over again I would have bought one 15 years ago and made payments on it. :beer
