Re: Trust help received K-1 but no cash
OK, I misrepresented for simplicity but now need to clarify ; I'm in the process of finding another accountant and have not broached this with the guy I have now. Meanwhile, I've been looking for advice online here and elsewhere and just got a direct answer, which I was trying to corroborate elsewhe...

Re: Trust help received K-1 but no cash
I'd like to reopen/add to this thread because I'm on the opposite side of a similar situation and perhaps the information here could be filled out a bit more. My accountant just advised me, as trustee, to do the same; Distribute on paper, sending K-1 to beneficiary and enough to cover tax, while ret...

Re: Hi - My new portfolio
Any chance that anybody here can offer comments around my questions ? I did put a lot of work into my original post with some faith that posting the whole portfolio as specified here would help me get some advice... If not, I guess I'll just put up my questions in isolation. Seems that in spite of t...

Re: Hi - My new portfolio

Oh, um, yes, you know, it would, and I guess that Vanguard manages at a lower rate, but I made my decision on that already and just got the estate split this month, opening three new accounts (two of them trusts), at Fidelity and then th...

Re: Fiduciary rule?
SWSL: Welcome to the Bogleheads Forum! I extend my condolence for the loss of your father ... it is the only equity option for the trusts considered 100% defensible by the estate/trust lawyer. I doubt this is true. In fact, a collection of individual stocks in a high-cost plan is more likely to vio...

Hi - My new portfolio
Hi all, my dad passed and I inherited approx 7 figures including house and car. In addition, I'm the trustee for another 500K for my niece and nephew, which I won't go into except to say that managing their funds has somewhat entered into my decisions for my own portfolio at times. Since I'm new to ...

Trusts taxes distributions
Hi. First post, will probably have some other questions that are more related to investment later. For now, I'm the trustee for two testamentary trusts established in my father's will. I'm also the executor of the estate. The two beneficiaries of the trusts are young, older one is 21, younger is 16....
