Umbrella liability only costs me $300 for 2 mill. But health insurance costs 10k ---my company pays half of that. If I had to pay the full amount I think that I would skip health insurance but I would keep the umbrella liability.

I pay $82 per year for one person for AAA plus. I think it's worth it. I needed a tow last December at 10 pm --- there were no garages open. I suppose that I could use GEICO but with AAA plus I get towing for up to 100 miles. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I wouldn't charge for the carpet cleaning since that is normal wear but if the carpet cleaning company has to charge you extra to get the stains out then I would charge them for the extra charge.

The microwave should be prorated over the ten year period.

Flagship doesn't give you too much. We used to get free turbotax but they got rid of it. So I wouldn't bother.

I think that we are in a real estate bubble in the Boston area. I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy. I would wait for the next recession and see how secure my job is before I buy. Not owning real estate has the advantage that it's easy to move if you lose your job.

We bought a used Grand Touring CX-5 two years ago. It had very low mileage (about 12k miles) and it's been a great car. Fun to drive and very reliable. We've only had to change the oil and recently it needed a new battery at about 30k miles.

I think that it depends on your individual situation. Have you saved enough for retirement? Can you work from home if your car is in the shop for a day? How important is it for you to have a reliable car --- do you need to take the kids to daycare or visit an elderly parent every day?

The best part about having an older car is that you don't have to worry about dents and dings. I have a 2000 Corolla and I don't worry about minor dents and dings. I would worry if I had a new car and would be more protective.

You might consider leasing a car because these safety features will get better over time. In three years there may be additional safety features that you want and will have to trade the car in again. It may be more cost effective to lease a car for two or three years.

Four years ago I went to a dentist that said that I had a cavitity ---- she diagnosed it without an X-ray. I did't have anything done at the time because I was skeptical. I've been to two other dentists since then and they have not found anything wrong.

Moving to a bigger city can be great for your social life. I was single and living in a small city and my social life was the pits. Moving to a large city really helped---- dating is much better in a large city --- there are many more activities for singles.

After I got stranded at 10 pm (AAA couldn't jump start it so I had to leave it and go back with a new battery the next day), I decided to change my batteries every 5 years. It's only $100 for a battery --- so $20 per year is no big deal --- especially when you are talking about a car expense.

That is great. I have a 2000 Corolla with only 94000 miles. I had to fix a few things like power steering pump, muffler, exhaust, catalytic converter, brakes... But nothing major. If I keep it for 400,000 miles I won't ever have to buy a new car. It doesn't have much rust.
