I did not roll because I do a backdoor roth and can't have a Rollover IRA. I could roll in to my current 401k but I don't want to be caught in a huge admin process that takes weeks being out of the market and potentially losing thousands.
It might be better to roll over your old 401k to your new 401k. You save in fees by doing the 401k to 401k rollover.

Re: Does company loyalty still exist?

Hello Bogleheads, I am reaching out to hear your opinions on a difficult employment situation. I am a government contractor, and have left (and returned) to the same contract company... twice! We just won our recompete with 1 base year and 3 option years which means that there is likely some short term stabIlity. It is a very small IT services company with limited growth opportunity, but both times I returned to the company they welcomed me back when I was in a tough spot, not desperate, but also in situations that I had to leave. I have been offered a job in the new year that pays (5k base) better, offers quarterly bonuses, equity options, unlimited PTO, and slightly better healthcare and retirement benefits. The new company is on a 100% ...

Was this a recent refi? It seems LenderFi is now servicing the recent loans (instead of transferring to Wells Fargo).

IMPORTANT: Please do not send any payments until the interim servicing department has sent you confirmation. He doesn't seem to be responding. Any ideas here on how to proceed? Did you check your closing docs? I had payment coupons in mine. They really should have online access ready to go and not have people mail in coupons. We are in 2020. I have been having issue with servicing post close. At the table they told me servicing would be sold, and to wait to get info from the "interim servicing" department before mailing a payment. No problem, not unusual... Never heard anything after that and finally had to call/email the week before my first payment to get a payment coupon. Sent that in but radio silence and the check didn't clear for 2 weeks. This was to LenderFi. Now its coming up on payment #2 which supposedly will be with the new servicer Amerihome... but again radio silence. No statements, no welcome packet, not even a letter of servicing transfer in the mail. Surprisingly I have not even received the usual Fannie May letter that the note was sold. Soon I need ...

I was never frugal, but living within your means and still enjoying your life. Not pinching pennies which I never did. Here are the main things that helped me during these times. 1- Paid off Mortgage (Never buy a starter home or McMansion) Buy a home that you can afford and pay it off as fast as possible. I remember when I bought my one and only house, the bank and realtor said I could qualify for a lot more then I borrowed. Don't fall for that trick. To receive a check, your son needs to immediately file a 2019 return and you should not include your son as a dependent when you file your 2019 return.

Possibly this can't be answered given the forum rules, but I wonder how much the chaos in Washington about financial matters is the cause of investor anxiety? Also, separately, recently someone started a thread wondering why so few new CDs were available at Vanguard, and people including myself said we saw a number of them. But I have noticed the past couple of days there are actually a lot fewer new CDs than I am used to seeing. Might that be because banks don't think they can predict interest rates in this environment? The average person doesn’t know nor care. They are celebrating Xmas and most are celebrating a smaller government. I think it has zero impact. At Christmas eve with our families, we were all talking about the market drop. ...

The law still stands so there is no change. I am not sure why we are even discussing what ifs. We don't do this for pending tax legislation.

Only if the law is struck down (by supreme court) that we can now discuss potential life changes, etc. There is a reason why the case was heard in this location of Texas. It has not even been heard in the appeals court but we are already discussing impact.

This is my conclusion as well.

Re: Can I reject a medical exam during insurance application without consequences?

Why not get a physical to check your health. Then based on the result of the physical, you apply for insurance.

The past expectation was already built into the stock price.

The stock price fell on future guidance.

Re: What to do with bill received for prior homeowner

This is simple. Just write " Return to Sender - incorrect address" and drop it in the mail. The sender will try to contact the prior owner using a different approach.

I will definitely look into a rollover (after the tax season) to a lower cost VG plan. I liked the link you gave RabbMD, the link indeed says, that Maryland does not recapture rollover tax breaks - has anyone actually done this? Is the 12 month rule to avoid recapture effective in all states or are these state by state tax rules?
Did you rollover your MD 529 to another state's 529 plan? I am thinking of doing this for my MD plan.
